Red Kettle, Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur

Last Saturday, we decided to have our lunch somewhere along our way to KL city. We know there are some nice cafes in Taman Desa and we found a few when we were driving to another restaurant previously.

We drove and found Red Kettle restaurant. It was easy to find a place to park at that area on a weekend. Their exterior is somewhat a bakery concept with a small, open window, highlighting the open concept kitchen bakery. They even display the loaves of bread, right next to the window.

As you walk in, you will see breads displayed at the counter and cakes. Meanwhile, you could observe the baker making and moulding the breads over the counter.

As for their food selections, for breakfast, they have oats, omelette, french toast. If you don't fancy of those, there's variety of breads over the counter. From 12pm onwards, you can order their mains, ranging from pork to pasta, salad, sandwiches and rice dishes.

Their kitchen was open for lunch and we ordered Angel Hair in Broth and Old School Chicken Chop. For drinks, we ordered Red Kettle Special.

There weren't many people then and it didn't take long before our food and drink arrived.

Red Kettle Special RM9.50
Red Kettle Special drink is a traditional Vietnamese drip coffee, with an extraordinary fluffy, sweetened creamy topping. We've come to love Vietnamese coffee for its intense flavour and smell. This was no exception either. Well executed and the sweetness was just right, and didn't overpower the flavour.

I ordered the pasta. I like the food presentation and I can see the colour of its presentation stands out with cherry tomatoes, roasted pork should and soy lava egg, and sprinkle of sesame and herbs. The broth is well-balanced, creamy but not too buttery that it makes the rest of the ingredients out of place. Lava egg were soft and cooked perfectly that the yolk still oozes when you bite it.

Angel Hair in Broth RM22

My hubby ordered Old School Chicken Chop. We were surprised that the chef still managed to present a simple chicken chop and make it appetizing. The chicken is marinated and pan-fried with buttered green peas, hand-cut seared potato wedges and homestyle gravy. Even their peas taste different; definitely not the regular peas that you find in pre-packed supermarket. Their homestyle gravy was perfect with hint of sweetness. It works well with the chicken chop.

Old School Chicken Chop RM18

Would I come here again? Definitely a yes for me. I'd love to try their breakfast one of the weekends. They even have soft serve; vanilla priced at RM4 and chocolate, priced at       RM 4.80 other than cakes for dessert.
